Our Partners
I am so excited for all of these collaborative events and the partners who are involved! So, how do we know each other?
Gretchen with Sweet Hive Bakery and I met through Boss Mama, and I immediately fell in love with her baked goods -- especially her key lime pie cheesecake frosted cookies -- and her sweet personality to match.
We've been attending Music with Julie Mazer since my daughter was 4 months old -- nearly 2 years! We love to hear Julie sing, play guitar, and create lyrics on the spot to engage all kids and their interests.
Angie with The Wonder Studio invited my daughter and I to try one of her classes, and we discovered that she taught English at the same high school I attended but a few years apart! She brings her teaching background into her fun and educational Kindermusik classes, and she has a really interesting e-newsletter called the wonder list!
When I was first hanging up Playful Acorns flyers at local libraries and businesses this fall, I kept seeing one for the Mental Health and Wellness Fall Festival in Mount Horeb, a fundraiser for the CEDAR Center. I was interested in participating and connecting with one of the organizers and nonprofit board president, Elizabeth Seeliger. We both realized that we're children's picture book authors! We've collaborated to create a StoryWalk® from her first book that she wrote with her daughter called "Big Feelings" (learn more at Pufferfish Publishing). We're excited to continue partnering in the future!
Giving Back
One of our goals when creating Playful Acorns was to find ways to highlight the work of local nonprofits -- not only to increase awareness, but also to support them in their missions. Each month we will spotlight a new nonprofit, and a portion of sales from Pop-Up Play Cafe (Cross Plains and Verona) and special event bookings will be donated to that cause.

Through Dec. 31st: CEDAR Center
A portion of proceeds from our events through the end of 2023 will go toward the newly created nonprofit organization, called the CEDAR Center (Connected Equine Development and Rehabilitation Center) to increase access to animal-assisted therapy services. Learn more at cedarcenter.org. I first learned about CEDAR Center when I participated in the Mount Horeb Mental Health and Wellness Fall Festival fundraiser for the nonprofit in October 2023. Local author Elizabeth Seeliger, who collaborated with me to produce her "Big Feelings" book as a StoryWalk®, is CEDAR Center's board president.
