Pop-Up Play Cafe Reveal: Verona (+ Guest Q&A)

Updated: Nov 5, 2023

Playful Acorns now has a Pop-Up Play Cafe location in Verona at Rocket Velocafe, 507 Bruce St, across from Fireman's Park!

We're so excited to finally have Pop-Up Play Cafe events on the calendar at Rocket Velocafe! In November 2023, we'll be there (along with some special guests) from 9-11 a.m. Wednesdays, Nov. 8th and 22nd! Refuel with a coffee or other drink and locally-made pastry and reconnect with other caregivers while your kids enjoy the enclosed play space filled with safe and fun toys and books (for the younger kids approximately ages 0-2) and a table with coloring and activity books and puzzles (for older kids approximately ages 2-5).

Pop-Up Play Cafe Dates in November at Rocket Velocafe in Verona
  • 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, November 8th: Featuring Andrea Andree for a parenting circle at 10 a.m.

  • 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, November 22nd: Featuring Mary Frost for some helpful tips to take your home from cluttered to clean at 10 a.m.

When you or your kids need to get some more energy out, you can pop in and out to explore the park across the street! In addition to a playground, basketball court, and soccer fields, there's also a paved trail for walks -- plus a beach and splash pad during the summer months.

"I thoroughly enjoyed the variety of activities available for my busy son! It was great seeing him interact with other toddlers and I enjoyed meeting other parents in the community. The fresh coffee from the cafe was a great perk as well!" - Parent of a 1.5 year old

Many thanks to Rocket Velocafe owners Peter Oyen and Jessica Laufenberg for welcoming us into their beautiful space (formerly n+1 cafe and Rocket Bicycle Studio)! There are some exciting things in the works here, including opportunities for people to do a velocafe takeover to promote their own business, guest bartend, and more! That's what's happening the week of November 8th -- learn more here! Other events include bike rides and occasional brunch and bakery pop-ups, and board game nights.

I chuckled when I saw this sign during our October free trial of the Pop-Up Play Cafe: "I don't have ducks. Or a row. I have squirrels. And they're everywhere." Taking care of yourself, your little one(s), and your other loved ones can be unpredictably squirrely at times. Thank you for understanding that we needed to make some changes to our schedule when some unexpected family matters came up.

We hope to see you soon! Book your spot today. :)

Last week I met with Andrea Andree, who is hosting the Rocket Velocafe takeover from Nov. 8-11, to learn more about what she does as a Transformational and Spiritual Coach (spirituality, in her words, meaning who you are at the truest level). In addition to helping high-achieving women quit the hustle and live more intentionally to create a life that feels authentic, purposeful, and fun, Andrea is also a mom of two (ages 7 and 5).

"Motherhood is hard," she said. "I'm a good listener and here for people if they need to talk." Andrea will do just that during our Pop-Up Play Cafe on Nov. 8th by holding a parenting circle at 10 a.m. while your kids play.
